Description:
The University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) Department of Medical Education (DME) invites applications for a new open-rank, tenure-track faculty position; rank commensurate with experience.  The ideal candidate for this faculty position will be a junior or mid-career person seeking an academic career in health or medical humanities, with demonstrated scholarship and practical experience in field such as literature, history, philosophy, sociology, anthropology, or religion, as well as a track record of funding commensurate with experience.  Practical experience in medical education or other health professions is desirable. PhD or MD/DO degree is required.
Duties:
The UIC Department of Medical Education, established in 1959, is nationally and internationally recognized for pioneering work in health professions education, scholarship and research. This academic position carries responsibilities in research, teaching, and service in medical or health professions education.  The ideal candidate will advance a program of scholarship in the health humanities while developing education programs for medical students and practicing health professionals consistent with their scholarship. DME faculty members are expected to teach and advise graduate students in the department’s Master’s degree Program in Health Professions Education (MHPE) and the Doctoral Program in Curriculum Studies with a focus in HPE, as well as teach in college of medicine programs and other faculty development activities. Candidates should indicate their specific field of expertise and describe their experience in teaching.
