The Science in Human Culture Program (SHC) at Northwestern University invites applications for a two-year position as a Weinberg College Postdoctoral Fellow in the contextual study of science, technology, or medicine, to run September 1, 2025 – August 31, 2027. Applications are welcome from scholars who study science, technology, or medicine from any of a range of historical, sociological, anthropological, philosophical, or literary perspectives, and who focus on any time/region of the world. Each of the two appointed fellows will be affiliated with the SHC program and with an appropriate disciplinary department in the Weinberg College of Arts & Sciences (History, Sociology, Anthropology, English, etc).
Fellows will also teach two quarter-long undergraduate courses each year and help organize and run the SHC visiting lecture series.
Applicants with a Ph.D. must have completed their degree after September 1, 2020. Applicants without a Ph.D. must complete all the requirements for the degree before September 1, 2025. At the time of acceptance, the applicant must be available for the full two-year term. The annual stipend will be in the environs of $65,000, plus $3,500 per year in research funding. This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position.
